Benefits that go beyond the statutory catalog
Most benefits are mandatory for statutory health insurance providers. However, many statutory health insurance companies offer additional benefits beyond the statutory benefits catalog.
Statutorily insured persons may be entitled to household assistance in the event of a severe illness if children are living in the household. Some statutory health insurance companies voluntarily offer more extensive benefits. Some statutory health insurance companies also go beyond what the law requires for at-home nursing care. Statutory health insurance companies can provide additional inpatient and outpatient hospice services for seriously ill patients. There is also frequent demand for coverage of eyeglasses, laser treatment of varicose veins, and non-prescription medicines.
