Health Courses

Incentive for a healthy life

Health or prevention courses help people get into a healthy sport, reduce stress through relaxation, or improve their diet. Health courses are a part of the health care offerings of statutory health insurance.

These courses are usually for a set period of time and take place under the guidance of a qualified trainer – in person or online. Many statutory health insurance providers offer their own health courses and subsidize courses from other providers.

This also makes economic sense for the health insurance provider: If they can convince their members to adopt a healthy lifestyle today, they can save on the cost of expensive treatments tomorrow. For this reason, almost every insurance fund offers health programs: from Nordic walking to cardiovascular training to aqua jogging.

For insured persons, the courses are often free; occasionally they must pay 10 to 20 percent of the fees. Insured persons should also be aware of caps on the subsidy per course. In most cases, only an amount between 75 and 100 euros per course is covered.
